The following is a list of books that are helpful for anyone leading a Soul Purpose Group. One of the key principles in leadership is, 'When you stop learning you stop leading.' As you have time you may want to read some of these to grow as a leader.
Spiritual Mentoring, by Keith Anderson and Randy Reese, IVP - This book provides wonderful insights into the process of helping another person grow spiritually.
Satisfy Your Soul, by Bruce Demarest, Navpress - Bruce walks you through a number of spiritual disciplines that most evangelicals are very unaware of and have not included in their walk with Jesus.
Master Plan of Evangelism, Robert Coleman, Revell - Provides the biblical base for what we are doing in Soul Purpose. Coleman examines the life of Jesus showing how the development of people is the key to transformation and the growth of the church.
How People Grow, Henry Cloud and John Townsend, Zondervan - This is a book on spiritual formation. The authors look at all the different ways people grow. It is especially helpful for the first module.
Safest Place on Earth, Larry Crabb, Word - Speaks to the dynamics of small groups and how you as a leader can be a safe person for people to open up to and how you can develop a group that is safe for people to be vulnerable with their lives.
Soul Talk, Larry Crabb, Integrity - This book is a follow-up to the previous book and provides the skills to talk to another person from the soul. It has good ideas on how you as a shepherd can help others talk from their soul as well.
Conformed to His Image, Kenneth Boa, Zondervan - A comprehensive work of the components of living your life for Jesus. This resource provides the biblical and practical approaches to spiritual formation.
